Empowered Patient Story:
Ed Hughes

Woburn, Massachusetts

In August 2021, shortly after graduating from high school, Ed was in a train accident that resulted in the loss of his right leg below the knee. Ed faced his recovery with grit and determination, regaining his mobility with the help of his physical therapists at Spaulding Rehabilitation Hospital in Boston and prosthetic care from his clinician Jayne Drummey. Ed loves running, swimming, traveling and is interested in boxing. Being fit with his first prosthetic running leg, thanks to a Manton Grant from Spaulding, is a milestone moment he will never forget.
